Our Activities
FIND Ghana has been actively engaged in advocacy efforts to promote the importance of Forensic Science in crime reduction and management in Ghana. Through various initiatives and activities, FIND Ghana has made significant strides in raising awareness and educating the public on the role of forensic science in addressing crime-related challenges.
One notable achievement is the organization’s media interactions , where we discussed the state of forensic science in Ghana and emphasized its crucial role in crime reduction. FIND Ghana also organized meetings with key stakeholders to conduct fingerprint lifting demonstrations and enhance understanding of forensic techniques among students.
Additionally, FIND Ghana collaborated with institutions like the University for Development Studies (UDS) to host seminars and lectures on topics such as nuclear security, emergency response, and the role of youth in crime reduction.
We also conducted training sessions for UCC security personnel to strengthen their capabilities in handling security-related issues effectively.
Furthermore, FIND Ghana actively participated in television appearances, radio interviews, online publications, and seminars to disseminate key messages about the importance of forensic science and effective crime management strategies.
Our engagement regarding galamsey and mercury-related kidney failure highlighted critical issues impacting communities across Ghana.
Overall, FIND Ghana’s advocacy efforts have played a vital role in promoting awareness about forensic science’s significance while fostering collaborations with various stakeholders to address crime challenges effectively.

Over the years Forensic Investigation for National Development has consistently achieved success through its impactful advocacy activities geared towards national security and justice delivery system in Ghana through media engagements, seminars and publications. Here’s a quick recap of some of our previous activities.

Meeting with the Vice Chancellor of University for Development Studies (UDS) in Tamale.
A brief meeting held between the Vice Chancellor Professor Gabriel Ayum Teye, the Dean of faculty of biosciences, the Forensic Science Departmental Head, and the core board members of FIND Ghana.

Welcome speech by the Vice Chancellor of UDS, Tamale Campus.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Gabriel Ayum Teye acknowledged the good initiative and welcomed more collaboration of this nature to help build a robust justice delivery system.

Presentation by Dr Lydia Quansah the HoD to the Forensic Sciences Department UDS Nyankpala Campus.
The Head of department highlighted the importance of the training program and talked about the department’s programs for interested people.

Interview with HSTV on the topic “The Role Of Forensic Science In Crime Reduction.”
Mr Saeed Salihu Ciessey discussed the role of forensic science in combating crime in Ghana and the need for more collaboration between the field with academia to bridge the gaps in the criminal Justice system.

HSTV Interview FIND Ghana on the topic “The State of Forensic Science in Ghana.”
Mr Saeed Salihu Ciessey discussed the state of forensic science in Ghana and highlighted the career opportunities and the need to establish an independent forensic body in Ghana.

FIND Ghana’s Interview with HSTV on “Kidney Disease.”
FIND GHANA started a campaign against the use of mercury in illegal mining due to the alarming rate of kidney failures in Ghana. Our research team made significant discovery about the contribution of mercury in the alarming rate of kidney failure and took it up to advocate for the immediate ban and regulation of illegal mining popularly known as galamsey.

Peace FM interviewed FIND Ghana on the topic “How Galamsey can lead to Kidney Failure.”
FIND Ghana through Mr Yakubu Adam engaged various media houses on TV and Radio on the effects of illegal mining on our health and raised a serious public health implications of illegal mining

Training Session for various Security Personnel.

FIND Ghana Trained Ghana Ambulance Officials at a Seminar.
The northern regional ambulance service were taken through emergency response and preservation of evidence.

FIND Ghana showed Ghana police service & CID Officials current method and techniques of Crime Scene Investigation.
Members of Ghana police service and regional CID headquarters attended a training on crime scene investigation techniques and criminal psychology.

Ghana Fire Service were offered a free training at a Seminar.
The Ghana fire service were taken through a tailored training on arson and fire investigation. Fire drills and fire education were done to sensitize the public and other members of the security services.

Training on nuclear safety for all the Officers who attended the Seminar
Nuclear safety and security is becoming a global problem and FIND Ghana seizes every opportunity to educate the security services on nuclear emergencies and preparedness.

The FIND Ghana medical unit led by Dr Abdul Rahman Haruna Sacchibu continue to provide tailored first aid tips for every medical situation including CPR.

First aid is an important skill that every individual has to acquire. In view of this, FIND Ghana has keen interest in training security personnel and the general public on first aid and how to handle emergencies

The Correct Posture for an Injured person at a Crime Scene.
If you want to help, then you have to do it the right way. This is why FIND Ghana takes every step involved in first aid very serious in every state you may FIND a victim, you should be able to do something right while you wait for professional help.

Galamsey, a public health concern motivated FIND Ghana to engage various stakeholders to discuss its risks and come up with solutions to end illegal mining activities.

FIND Ghana was invited to give a lecture on the health risks of galamsey at university for Development studies bioscience faculty’s monthly seminar.

Lifting Finger prints on any surface.
Fingerprint lifting techniques under various conditions were demonstrated to the group of security personnel. They were allowed to practice and educated on how to preserve fingerprint evidence

Crime Scene documentation is a vital part of crime scene investigation hence, participants were taken through steps on crime scene documentation and sketches

How to place Evidence Identification Markers at a Crime Scene.
Proper labeling is as important as identification of evidence. It makes the work easier and help present evidence in a befitting manner.

How to identify and lift foot print.
Whether latent or patent, every relevant evidence must be documented. Trace evidence and impression related evidence are given special attention here at FIND Ghana
Training UCC Security Personnel.

3 Day training Seminar organized for UCC Security Personnel.
The University of Cape Coast and FIND Ghana collaborated to train their security personnel in general security and emergency response, first aid, criminal investigation, workplace drug abuse and management, criminal psychology

The Final Day of the Security Training for the personnel.
After three days of training, FIND Ghana ended the day with picture with the directors of Human Resources, campus security, Legal, consular services and general services

How to neutralize Riots as a Security Personnel on Campus.
One major head for campus security is crowd control and riot control. UCC security were taken through all the necessary protocols to protect students in every riot while maintaining professionalism and their safety. They were taught the various ways to help curb emergencies during riots on campus
